This week, Steve Sweeney outlined his plans to bring stability and bold action to the Garden State, as he fights for working- and middle-class families and promises to bring critical investments to improve our communities and be the leader that New Jersey needs to navigate uncertain times. 

From his Stay NJ Plus program, which will bring property tax relief of up to $12,000 for retirees, to his Builders Agenda to make major investments in infrastructure, energy, and affordable housing, Steve is fighting to make sure everyone has a seat at the table. • America is facing a moment of great crisis and even greater uncertainty. From the chaos unleashed by President Trump, to rising costs and widening divisions, people are looking for leadership that brings stability, vision, and – most importantly – results.

• In New Jersey, we can’t afford to sit on the sidelines, because New Jerseyans have been through enough already. We need a governor who will fight for the middle class, invest in our communities, and make government work for everyone. Moreover, we need someone who is ready for that job on Day One.

• Under my Stay NJ Plus plan, we’ll fully fund the Stay NJ Program and more…

  • Retirees with incomes up to $250,000 will be exempt from state income tax.

  • Seniors will also see their property taxes cut in half.

• Trump’s chaotic actions are unlikely to bring back the middle-class jobs he promised. So, I am going to launch a major investment in the things that make our communities work and create jobs.

• It is time New Jersey residents have a quality of life that matches their demands and makes the state more affordable.

• If we have better water and electric systems, costs will go down. If we increase and improve the quality of housing, then related costs will go down, including homeowners’ insurance. These investments will be life changing.

• We can no longer wait around for resistant towns to build housing they don’t want. We need to utilize the built-up reserves to meet the demand today. We must build, and we must rehabilitate. Instead of fighting over affordable housing, we will deliver it.

• Unlike Trump who has compassion for no one, I have committed myself to making life better for those who the government has forgotten.

• As the father of a daughter with Down syndrome, I know firsthand the challenges families face navigating systems that weren’t built with them in mind.

• I’ve fought to expand Medicaid, workforce opportunities, and housing for people with disabilities.

• New Jersey deserves more than soundbites – they deserve solutions.
