Trenton, NJ - Today, Steve Sweeney’s campaign submitted 8,025 signatures to the New Jersey Department of State to qualify for the ballot as a candidate for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination. Thousands of supporters from across New Jersey came together to collect signatures and ensure that the most qualified and experienced candidate for governor is nominated in June’s primary.
Sweeney has already earned endorsements from across the state, including six county parties, a slew of labor leaders and organizations, and hundreds of state and local elected officials. New Jerseyans are ready to elect a fighter who will lower costs for workers and families, keep communities safe, protect our rights, and stand up for Social Security, Medicaid, and public education.
Steve Sweeney issued the following statement:
“I’m humbled by the support of countless New Jerseyans, from Bergen to Salem, who share our vision of a more prosperous, safe, and affordable New Jersey — where everyone can get a quality education, work, raise a family, and retire. I am incredibly grateful to our dedicated volunteers who have stood with us in this fight. While we have a lot of work ahead in the next three months, I am committed to taking our message directly to voters every single day, earning each and every vote, because I believe everyone in Jersey is worth fighting for.”
